A word from Joyce.... written in early 2003
We were completely blown away when we learned that "Black Minx Tsjomme" received the Friesian/Warmblood Hi-Point award for Victoria for the third consecutive year. Not bad for a 4+ year old that is shown rarely, due to the lack of Shows in our area. If we travel, it is at least four hours each way to other shows. We attend four or five clinics each year (mainly Natural Horsemanship) often bareback and bridle-less.
Tsjomme is a real clown and is always looking for different ways to use any equipment that is used. He will do anything for a piece of liquorice and goes through everyone's pockets looking for a handout. He does well in led, best presented, open, ridden and height classes. Although I am no show rider, I do riding classes with him, as I know he will behave himself with me. I do have a young 16 year-old girl who does her riding classes with him, and they get on very well together.
We do trail riding (up to 30-35 kms) every second weekend, and camping overnight as well. Tsjomme's breeding is - Sire "Iepe Tj" imported from the Netherlands, Purebred Friesian, - and Dam "Floortje" (x Maurits Friso) 75% Friesian. He is very much Friesian in looks and is bigger than both of his parents and still growing. He is also broken into harness, although up to date I haven't been able to take this up with him in the Show Ring - soon maybe.
Now a word from Rex...
Joyce's horse Dingbat (Rex's name for him - registered name is Black Minx Tsjomme) has won Hi-Point Champion Friesian in Victoria again, and locally also won Reserve Champion Led at the 2002 Mildura Show and was Champion at the 2001 Show. His favourite trick is to rest his chin on your shoulder and watch your knees buckle. Dingbat is very useful- he licks the sweat off Rex at the end of a hot day, and saves him having to shower.
